        Stephen Ross has nearly 20 years of experience in real estate analysis, consulting and appraisal, including "hands on" market analysis experience in 20 states and 28 markets. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Denver and his Masters of Business Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where he emphasized Economics and International Business, Mr. Ross began his real estate career as a commercial real estate consultant in 1989 with The Meyers Group in Southern California. 

    In 1991, he moved to Grubb & Ellis where he held several positions in the Research Services Division including Regional Research Director for the Pacific Northwest Region and National Research Coordinator.  In these positions, he was responsible for coordinating and managing Grubb & Ellis’ research division regionally and nationally including market and economic analysis for all real estate sectors, coordinating real estate research publications, and client-specific research assignments. 

        In 1996, Mr. Ross joined the country’s largest real estate investment brokerage company, Marcus & Millichap, as National Manager of the Research Services Division.  In this capacity, he oversaw the creation, implementation and operation of the firm’s first national Research Services Division.  Mr. Ross’ responsibilities included managing the national research division of 30-35 local, regional and national analysts and personnel spread across 34 U.S. offices with an annual budget of $3.5 million; implementing research and analysis policies and procedures nationally; integrating Geographic Information System (GIS) into real estate analysis; real estate supply and demand analysis; and directing the design, writing, editing and production of over 150 professionally-published market reports, which were distributed to more than 300,000 clients each year, covering the apartment, retail and office sectors of 26 local markets.

        Mr. Ross started his own independent real estate consulting practice in 2001 providing real estate market analysis, consulting services, and market overviews, evaluations, and projections of office, industrial, retail, multi-family and hospitality markets on MSA, regional and national levels to corporate and institutional clients. Projects completed for pension fund advisors, REITs and major commercial real estate clients include asset/market analyses, acquisition studies, development analyses and rehabilitation/repositioning studies of apartment communities, totaling over 22,000 units, and of 3.4 million square feet of commercial projects in major U.S. markets.  Mr. Ross also has an affiliation with James Real Estate Services, where he serves as Director of Market Analysis and a commercial appraiser.  He has completed market studies or appraisals of office buildings, retail and single-tenant triple net lease properties, auto sales and service centers, industrial buildings, mixed-use developments, and residential and commercial land.  Mr. Ross is a Registered Appraiser in Colorado and is approved by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority as a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Market Analyst.
